An Evening with Lawyers Against Poverty

What Can We Do To Help Refugees?

Lawyers Against Poverty is launching a new initiative intended to increase awareness of refugee rights issues among the wider legal community and encourage collaborative action to support refugees overseas as well as in the UK. Come to our event on Monday 15 October where Kirsty Wilson and Richard Dyton, the Chairs of Lawyers Against Poverty, will introduce the initiative and host a discussion on what we as lawyers can do in aid of refugees.

We will hear from Professor Alexandra Xanthaki, Research Director at Brunel University and founder of the Athens Refugee Project, and Adrian Henderson, leader of Lawyers Against Poverty’s Refugee Thematic Group, each of whom will share their experiences of volunteer work to assist refugees. Do come along to contribute to our discussion and hear about the upcoming activities of Lawyers Against Poverty.

The next two events in our autumn series will be on women’s rights and indigenous rights to land. These will be held in London and are open to all members and anyone else interested in attending; we will circulate the relevant dates as soon as they are settled. We hope the talks will create an open forum for debate and discussion around three issues affecting millions of individuals living in the world today. Please do come and share your experiences and ideas with us.
