Join Lawyers Against Poverty and our guest speakers on 14 November 2019, 18.30-21.00 at Simmons & Simmons, One Ropemaker Street, London, EC2Y 9SS

Access to justice and rule of law are fundamental in securing and maintaining rights for disadvantaged groups in the UK and abroad. As lawyers, our members are able to provide strategic support, both as volunteers and through donations to our Justice Fund, in areas such as refugee rights, women’s rights and indigenous rights to land.

We look forward to welcoming you to discuss the unique contribution that lawyers can make to our work. Hear about our plans for the future development of the charity as we launch an exciting new phase for Lawyers Against Poverty.

We are delighted to introduce our guest speakers:

Tsitsi Matekaire and Samantha Ferrell-Schweppenstedde both of Equality Now will talk about their work in addressing sex trafficking and the use of rule of law in that context.

Philip Worthington of European Lawyers In Lesvos will discuss his work with asylum seekers in Lesvos, Greece and the importance of access to legal advice in such cases.

Adrian Henderson of Lawyers Against Poverty will update us about the LAP refugee insight sessions and how you can support this important initiative.

Thank you to all our speakers and also to Simmons & Simmons for hosting this event.
